Hello everyone, my name is Karsten. I'm a dog trainer certified under §11 of the German Animal Welfare Act and, together with my wife Sandra, I run the dog school Großstadthunde in the Ruhr area. Our passion for dogs has been with us since we were young. Today we live with up to six dogs of many different breeds from various shelters – many of whom were once considered difficult or impossible to rehome.

One of them is our dog Ayla – a victim of extreme breeding who arrived at the shelter with severe behavioural problems. She injured herself badly there and couldn't cope with shelter life at all. When the last attempt to rehome her also failed, we took Ayla in and integrated her into our pack. At that time I was still training at the Essen animal shelter, where she came from. Today I'm active at the Duisburg animal shelter, where I work specifically with dogs showing behavioural problems.

Our dog school specialises in the resocialisation of such dogs. We believe that successful dog training is based on trust, respect and clear communication. Our goal is to give every dog security and structure – without losing sight of their individuality. To do this, we rely on tailor-made solutions that truly suit both people and dogs.
